- Upon getting up in the morning (sung) - "Good morning, Good morning, Good morning to you; Good morning, Good morning, and how do you do?"
- For general annoyance of young children (hands together, with fingers folded under) - "Here is the church, here is steeple (forefingers up), open the doors (separate thumbs), see all the people (wiggle finger tips).
- During bath time for very young Carroll boys (singing along with the floating tug boat) - "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine; You make me happy when skies are gray; You'll never know dear how much I love you, So please don't take my sunshine away."
- Upon arriving home (nursery rhyme) - "To market, to market, to buy a fat pig; home again, home again jiggety jig"
- "goop" - any creamy, sticky or otherwise gelatinous substance
- "rugbeater" - a 'wifebeater' as in undergarment
- "Gross!" - Bugs on the floor, walls or ceiling..... especially at night.
Also, when traveling about:
- "The Avenue" - Wyoming Avenue i.e., Route 11
- "The Back Road" - You know..... Shoemaker Ave. W Wyoming; Main St. Swoyersville, etc.
- "The Bypass" - Pittston By-Pass
- "Tuntel" - Tunnel along the turnpike between Allentown and Lehighton exits (so named when I was 2 years old living in Allentown and going to visit my grandparents in Wilkes-Barre)
- "Turnpike" - The Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike
- "East-West" - The regular Pennsylvania Turnpike
- "Blue Route" - Ah Ha !!! I found a description of the Blue Route (the name actually was not invented by the Rivers family ) --> I -476
